I will consider almost any type of manuscript except obscenity,
pornography, sexist, racist, or hate material, and complicated
formulas, technical terms, and numerical content.
My background includes a B.A. from the University of
Wisconsin-Green Bay in Humanism and Cultural Change, an M.Div
from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in
Counseling and Health Ministry from The Union Institute and
University. My dissertation was Ministry Needs in Adult-Onset
Chronic Illness (APA style).
I was a weekly newspaper columnist for The United
Methodist Reporter for five years. I also served five years as
editor of an international newsletter, The ACPE Research
Network Newsletter, for CPE Supervisors, Chaplains, Pastors,
and others in Ministry who are interested in many different kinds of
research.
I had both an invited editorial and an article published in the
Journal of Pastoral Care, Spring and Fall issues, 1995. My
special interests are the humanities and social sciences, ministry,
research, counseling, and business/personal coaching. I am also on
a journey to find ways to help bring peace and harmony with equity
and justice to individuals, families, schools, congregations,
communities, countries, and the whole planet through my SavvyTalk
Skills program.
My dissertation was in APA (3rd edition) style. APA then
went to a 4th edition that I used extensively. I now have the APA
5th edition for those who need it. I am also familiar with several
other style manuals. Along with editing, I continue to write for
myself (a novel and a couple of other books in progress!) as well as
for others. I know I need an editor for my own writing because I am
just too close to it! I also understand the back and forth process
involved in getting published.
Some time ago, I copy edited a story-article for a Viet Nam vet
about his experience in service there. I learned a lot! In addition, I
enjoyed working with a number of graduate students on their
Masters' Theses in nursing. I enjoyed editing the Northeast
Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) catalog for six years and the
Bay Business Journal of the Green Bay Area Chamber of
Commerce nearly that long, too. Although I am basically retired
now, I still keep my hand in. I just really enjoy it!
Good editing takes time.
Please don't wait until the last minute and then want a
miracle. I am fresh out!
